To hear many Palauans today, they are as pessimistic about the nation’s governance outlook and overall direction as they were in the turbulent decade of the 1980s, when the country was still ensnared in strikes of government workers, death of two presidents and three citizedns, several Compact plebiscites that involve political intimidation, arson, fire bombings, and killing.
