To clarify my previous comment.

I reiterate again, your above commentary does not cut it for me. We are a country of approximately 20k people with wealthy natural resources to sustain us.

When at anytime have we had one person died of starvation because of poverty?

I applaud you for your enthusiasm and productive writing skills, however the food stamp idea does not fit our culture at this time.

I suppose your intentions is good, however I see the food stamp idea in a different perspective. The food stamp could be a burden for the country. We can feed our citizens without it. It is offensive to me that you would think of such. I suspect you may have a better support to your claim. Your above comment have no valid support in my opinion.

Hi there Mr. Henry,

I do agree with the economy for being the most important Issue in this election, and I will post my reasons as to why, later. Although, I differ with some of your views (at least what you have written above).

By the way, as of 9:15am Pacifc Standard, here is what FACEBOOK IPO looks like on the second day, and some of many more articles to come below:

Dow Jones
12,449.04	+79.66	(0.64%)

S&P 500
1,310.18	+14.96	(1.16%)

Nasdaq
2,827.94	+49.15	(1.77%)

Facebook Stock Drops - What Really Goes On In IPO's
Forbes - 57 minutes ago
So by most accounts, the Facebook IPO is disappointing. Facebook's stock ended its first day of trading a mere $0.23 above the deal price and today, Day 2, it has dropped more than 10% intraday.

Henry,

Who cares what Kissinger thinks?! He is the last person you should consult for a definition on the abuse and arrogance of power. Kissinger’s public declarations about abuses of power and what he does in life (remember he displayed his disgusting arrogance of Micronesians, Marshallese, and Belau peoples during our early independence movements) are, if anything, clear instances of his disconnect between abuse of Power and its deadly consequences among ordinary people. Kissinger has been rightly accused for war crimes and orderings of political assassinations and a few nations have issued summons for his arrest. Hardly a person you should consult for some wise counsel about the nature and abuse of Power. Anybody can opine about how Power, in this day and age, is regularly abused and how arrogance of Power corrupts. Kissinger is an alleged war criminal due to his planning activities for carrying out mass murders in Cambodia and elsewhere.

Another thing: While we credit Adam Smith for much of how free market Capitalism has come to be, there are however significant criticisms of Smith’s views of laissez-faire economics, a term he did not use but one alluding to his concept of a so-called “invisible hand” that regulated the market, an invisible force that regulates everything, ensuring that markets function best when left to their own devices. I think we can all see how an over-reliance on such theoretical models of economy and market have led to some very devastating results in the US, Europe, and in many of the so-called “third world” countries under sway of Neoclassical economic consultants from the US and Europe for several decades. The western academy was abuzz in the past few decades with its devastating critique of Neoclassical economics, much of which was influenced by Adam Smith and many of his modern protégés.

All these bring me to the point I want to raise: about how disconnected you are! It appears to me that in spite of your prolific writing, that you seem so out of touch, so desperately behind the times. Of all people, I’d expect you to key in to the more recent and progressive critiques of Neoclassical economics and, from there, make your case for a more just and fair Belau society based on more enduring qualities of community, justice, egalitarianism, sustainable development..
[ Fyi: these are some of what I mean:
http://alekokau.com/2009/11/16/gaps-in-affluence-and-scarcity-the-capitalist-ethos-and-the-cultural-tenets-of-community-in-belau/ ]
I have trouble taking in some of your very over-the-top writings about several topics. I have so much to say but I’ll stop for now and ask that you take this not as a necessarily negative criticism…

Alii e Kambes, thanks for this entertaining but a reflection of politicians way of life. I would like to suggest, however, that you write an editorial that is like a comparative analysis of Palau's government versus others within our region. The analysis would be in terms of expenses on a per capita basis versus others i.e., salaries, number of the members of the national congress versus others and whether there is really a need for a bi-cameral congress with 29 members of not.
What is the government especially national absorb financially versus what the same government provides the populace. If this has been done, please disregard this request/suggestion. Sulang
